The DROP Project
We’d rather work ourselves out of a job, state by state.
California built a tool that lets residents send one request to hundreds of data brokers at once. Every other state makes you fight each broker by hand. We think that should change — and we’re asking people to say so, on record.
This isn’t a quick fix, and we won’t pretend it is. State privacy law moves slowly — sometimes years, sometimes not at all. Signing this doesn’t guarantee anything happens fast, or at all, in your state. What it does is add your name to a real, visible number lawmakers can see.
Where things stand today
Your state, honestly rated.
Has a DROP-style tool
California is the only state with a working bulk deletion platform right now.
Has a privacy law, no bulk tool
Around 20 states give residents a deletion right, but nothing like DROP to act on it in bulk.
No comprehensive law yet
Most states. Residents rely entirely on manual, broker-by-broker opt-outs.
